Chunky Star Urchin Hat

This hat is handknit from incredibly soft wool and alpaca yarn imported from Peru. Two colors were used: a soft gray/beige and a power blue/gray for the border. The large 3-3/4 in. pompom matches the border of the hat. The stitch is called a spiral rib, which I dubbed "urchin rib," and the top spirals up into a 5-pointed star!  It is a snug fit but stretchy enough to fit a small to average women's head approx. 21-3/4" around.
